how do people interact with the environment in tokyo?
tokyo is, like all cities, one huge mass of human environment interaction. there are far too many ways that people interact with the environment to list them all, everything from building a skyscraper, to paving a new road, to stepping on a blade of grass. but it is these interactions that make tokyo what it is today. every building has to have a foundation that is dug into the earth, and every road covers up a small piece of land with something that people made.
but construction is not the only way people interact with their environment. almost anything that anyone there does is interacting with the environment! but not everything that people do is really considered HEI. when you breathe, technically you are interacting the environment but on such a small scale that it is not considered HEI.
there are a few more ways that i would just like to point out. tokyo needs a lot of materials to keep itself running, such as food and resources. getting these things is yet another example of HEI, because people have to hunt and farm and collect these from the environment.
